Love at First Bite
An instructional, illustrated recipe book
A visual representation to guide a viewer through the steps of baking a cherry pie with a lattice top.
Through explorations of illustration style and organization, a cohesive system of visual instructions was made. Clarity and thoughtful repetition were crucial, as the recipe relies on visual demonstration instead of written instruction.
Made to encourage collaboration between bakers of all ages, and each step of the process is easily understood by all. A cheerful array of colors, coupled with serif type, creates an inviting feel for readers. Recipe steps are divided sequentially, with a distinct title page for each new section.

Ingredient iconography was made very recognizable and easy to follow. Readers are able to refer back to the ingredients page as they follow the recipe
A challenge of this book was demonstrating the making of the lattice pattern without written instruction. The lattice sequence was expanded to include all possible steps, and each was carefully illustrated.
The sequence was adapted to fit the book’s structured grid, allowing for ease when bakers search for the next step.
